In West Beijing, Saturday nights are for playing pool.

1. The Atlanta Poets Group perform a Chad Lietz score. They do a good job & it's the first time I've heard someone other'n Chad & friends perform one. Chad does two of his own here as well.
2. A journalist remembers poet Lin Zhao, who was executed by China in 1968.
3. Reading George Sorel's Reflections on Violence (1908).
4. Also reading Li Ch'ing-chao's Complete Poems. She was definitely a Sung dynasty (960-1279 ad) elitist, but recognized as one of the best writers of tzu poetry, lyric poetry set to Sung dynasty tunes.
5. Bought a new phone--a Lenovo i580. It's the first time ever I've had an up-to-date cell phone. Amazon delivers right to your door the next day if you live in central Beijing.
6. My fantasy baseball team is in 9th, which is up from 12th (ie, last) from 2 weeks ago.
7. Couldn't get a train ticket out of town on this May Day 3 day weekend. So I went to Wang Fujin instead to go to the Foreign Bookstore. Big mistake. The area was packed. It was like last minute shopping on Christmas Eve, but with something like thousands upon thousands of tourists.
